... I had forgotten some advice I once received from my father-in-law. He was raised a Mississippi farm boy and once told me that, if I was going to wrestle with a pig, I should remember two things:

One, I was gonna get muddy.
Two, even if I won, the pig was going to enjoy it more than I did.

Of course, it was never my intention to be endearing to Stu. However, a prompt response to my very first request for retraction of the false claim would have ended the whole thing six months ago at a significantly lower animosity level.
