In addition to building casinos in Africa and in the Caribbean, Kerzner International which at the time was still called Sun International was responsible for the development and building of the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. Sun International through a 50% ownership in a company called Trading Cove Associates (Other 50% was owned by the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority) was suppose to manage the Mohegan Sun however in 2000 the agreement between the MTGA and TCA was abruptly ended in 2000 but as part of the agreement Kerzner still receives payments from the MTGA based on the gross revenue for 15 years.
More recently Kerzner through a business partnership called BLB Investors, L.L.C. fought a fierce battle against MGM Mirage to buy a British gaming company called Wembley, PLC. which owns and operates a chain of Greyhound tracks in the United Kingdom and the Lincoln Park Greyhound track in Rhode Island. After MGM Mirage bowed out BLB suddenly decided that they didn't want Wembley anymore and let their offer to buy the company just expire. BLB claimed that the unforseen future of gaming in Rhode Island was cloudy because of Harrah's desire to build a mega casino and if that were to happen there would be no way that the State of Rhode Island would allow slot machines or Video Lottery Terminals (VLTs) onto the Greyhound tracks. So it seems Wembley, PLC is just back to square one of being a lowly public company wanted by no one.
