... and refresh your recollection, rather than speak out of turn on a subject about which you do not have an accurate "recall", Jim.
>> if you are referring to that brass core deal a couple of years ago,
>> that was embarrassing to the club and it's so called attorney !!
The club's attorney (Eric Rosenblum), played no part in the brass core inquiry, so you owe him an apology.
>> If I recall, a member was very happy with some chip he bought ...
The member to whom you refer -- Don Lueders -- and the chip that he was "very happy with", made up only a small part of the brass core inquiry. Dean Porter, who was not so happy, filed a complaint which I investigated and which ultimately resulted in a decision by the board to expel Mel Jung for committing a fraud in the sale of a non-genuine brass core chip.
>> ... but was harrassed by club members and officers to provide details of a private
>>deal that he didn't care to share ..... that was total invasion of privacy as I saw it
It was and remains my opinion that Don Lueders did the club (and therefore its members) a huge disservice in refusing to cooperate with respect to the non-genuine brass core chip which he bought from Joe Benon. Don was not told that it was one of David Whalen's creations and he paid top dollar for the chip. He did not learn that it was -- as he put it himself -- "punk" until after the brass core inquiry was commenced.
Joe Benon, who did the same thing Mel Jung did, deserved to be treated the same as well. The ONLY reason he wasn't was because Don refused to cooperate. IMO, the only "embarrassment" involved in this situation is that both Benon and Leuders were allowed to thumb their noses at the club's Code of Ethics.
What is going to happen with the chips that are now being repaired? Just ask Don, he knows.
