As an EX coin collector I saw the hobby ruined with altered coins. Because of this, slabbing got its start in the hobby of collecting coins. It was one way to insure you got what you paid for.

Not that I am advocating slabbing but it may come to that in the chip hobby as a form of protection for the buyer. There must be a method in place to check if a chip is legitimate or not.

This is just my view. I am not advocating slabbing but it does serve a purpose.
