Sad indeed, although Harvey had been in ill health for some time.
Harvey was someone who saw and understood the tremendous value of investigating and preserving the history of gaming in Nevada, and fortunately for us all, pursued that understanding. With the editorial and organizational help of Howdy Herz and Doug Saito, the rest of us have benefitted from Harvey's tireless chasing of people and records to keep that history from fading away completely.
Without his efforts, much of early Nevada history would have been lost forever, because early official records were lost in a fire in Carson City many years ago.
Harvey's enthusiasm and knowledge were boundless. He'd talk with anyone interested enough to ask him questions. (That's an understatement - how many times did I try to get him to STOP talking once I got him started?!) For any of you who didn't know him, his biography and photograph are on the Club website in the Hall of Fame area.
Fortunately, Harvey's permanent place in the Hall of Fame and in the literature of chip collecting will live as long as there are collectors.
