If you rent a car, valet is the best deal in town. $2 is the customary tip when you get your car. Not renting? Then use the shuttle systems.

From McCarran (if just you and the wife) take a shuttle to the Palms (about $6 each). A cab will run a little more, but will be quicker. If you shuttle for return to airport, be sure to call 24 hours ahead to arrange pick-up!!!

While at the Palms, enjoy what they have to offer (say hello to Gene, but not on a Sat. or Sun.) and then walk across the street to the Gold Coast. You can shuttle from the Gold Coast to The Orleans (free) or to the Barbary Coast (free) which is on the Strip. From the Barbary Coast you can walk the Strip. All of these are real close to the Barbary Coast (Caesars, Bally's, Paris, Aladdin, Bellagio, Flamingo, Harrah's and few others).

Harrah's has a shuttle to the Rio (the Rio's buffet is good and their parade in the sky is cool). You can walk from the Rio back to the Palms. While at Harrah's, ask if they shuttle to the Horseshoe (downtown).

If you get downtown, do so at evening for the Fremont Experience (every hour on the hour 'til midnight). El Cortez has a new rack.
