Maybe all that labor to fix the hole is worth something as well! It is art after all, no? My two cents, for whatever it is worth, is that as long as the repair is disclosed the repaired chip perhaps can be considered to be worth more than one with the hole since the finished product looks closer to the original chip (museums do repair ancient vases, busts/statues, and even paintings all the time). The problem arises, and I believe this is the point Gene and others are worried about, when the repair is made with intention to deceive.
