validity?
I know I'm probably raining on someone's parade, but here goes.
At what point do (or is there such a point) "Limited Edition / Collector" chips lose their "validity".
I mean, how many 'special' chips does Hard Rock, Palms, Opra House, etc. have to churn out before they are recognized as nothing 'special' at all, just a mountaine of gaudy plastic?
Is there a point where intelligent collectos will simply give up the effort to keep pace with this accelerating barage of pretty trash?
Would 100 LE chips a year be too many?
How about 100 'Collector Series' per month (all casinos combined)? Average four chips per series, that's only 4,800 chips per year(@ $5.00 per chip = $24,000). That seems a little unlikely, but I'm exagerating to make a point.
How silly does it have to get before collectors are simply overwhelmed and dis-illusioned, and either rebel or drop the hobby completely?
I don't think it's too early for someone / an appropriate orginazition (CC>CC?) to begin looking at this issue.
Just an observation from a 'newbi' to the chipping hobby, and hopefully one who is not to close to the forest to see the trees about to fall (is that a mangled metaphor?).
Is it any wonder they call me 'The Preacher'? :-)
