Insurance doesn't work. It is a gimmic for the seller to make more money. Only the seller is insured and only he may file a claim. It does absolutely nothing for the buyer. If SOMEBODY has insurance on that package the buyer has some recourse with the seller. Tracking costs money too, so it may be a wash. If the seller over charges for insurance that is another problem.
The seller won't ship until your check clears and once the check clears, you have no way to get your money back. That is completely false Stu. You have recorse with Cashiers Checks, and Money orders as well, personal checks require less time to track but even after the check is deposited it can be refunded and charged back to the buyer, if it was cashed there is yet other recourses.
