Thought you might be interested in a new twist in playing at the craps table. In the Indian casinos near San Diego they are not permitted to play craps as in Las Vegas style - can't use dice to determine the play. They get around it in this manner:
The dealer with all of the chips stacked in front of him has six cards all of one suit - ace through six. He scatter shuffles these cards and places them face up in six spaces in front of him marked 1 thru 6. When the shooter rolls the dice the number on each die determines which of the 6 card positions are selected. The card's numbers in the two selected positions are added and called out by the dealer as the number rolled. These cards retain their position until the shooter passes the dice to the next shooter at which time the cards are shuffled and placed in positions 1 thru 6 again.
Example: cards are shuffled and placed in positions 1 thru 6 as follows:
In position 1 is the 3 of diamonds
In position 2 is the 6 of diamonds
In position 3 is the 5 of diamonds
In position 4 is the ace of diamonds
In position 5 is the 2 of diamonds
In position 6 is the 4 of diamonds
The shooter rolls and the dice come up 5 and 3
The dealer moves the number 3 and number 5 cards forward and calls "7 " as the number.
So the number played is determined by the cards, not the dice, and it actually becomes a card game.
