Was doing some cleaning this evening and found this ashtray. It was in a bedroom that I took over from my brother that had more turned into a storage locker of sorts. It would be a prime subject for Clean Sweep on The Learning Channel. The tray was full of ashes and butts and had been burried on the desk under a pile of junk for about 5 or 7 years.
I was going to come right out and ask if anyone had any historical or value information on it but I thought I might try and have fun first. Here is a before picture of it.
I, unfortunately, have nothing to offer for a prize other than the challenge and satisfaction of someone who might be able to identify it.
Take a Chance. What you got to loose?
Since the label is almost totally covered I will give a hint. It does say LAS VEGAS on it and is from a casino that is no longer. I won't say whether it is a sold, changed names closed or imploded.
I will prep the after picture to post tomorrow.
I don't know the origin of this. Nobody else in my family has an interest in casinos or anything. The only source I can think of might be my dad who went to Vegas with My Godfather a few times sometime in the 50s 60s or early 70s. I don't personally recall my dad going there since then. They would have probably gone as part of some Dental Conventions or something. They were both practicing dentists and very active in the associations.
Good luck, Look forward to some guesses out there.
