Don T; I wasn't looking to make this into a controversial issue either.... just trying to offer an explanation or answer to your valid question(s).

You asked "why"? I have a simple answer ... one that some may not agree with ... but there were suggestions made to the then elected Board by the membership at the time there were only Regular and Associate memberships and that the club might want to consider offering Life Memberships ... and we did.

Nobody is forced to convert to Life Membership as it is a voluntary option that was requested by some club members, which the club provided for ... and yes, you are correct ... $20 per year is probably more economical for most members.

However, the simple fact is that the club loses litterally hundreds of members each and every year who do not renew their dues for one reason or another. With the introduction of Life Memberships; those who might have dropped out are now indeed in it for LIFE ... regardless of age!!

At your young age of 65 Don ... I hope you live to be 100!!
