I would think that in a hobby with so much esoterica, chips differentiated only by type size or color variations, people would be more concerned with exact identification in auctions (like, maybe posting chip numbers).
Of the hundreds of sellers on ebay, I've seen only two or three who include TCR of GC designations for their chips (myself being one of those few).
On those rare occasions when I am a seller, I want my customers to know, with no doubt, what they are bidding on. As a buyer I am often frustrated to see a chip that I think I want, but am in doubt, 'is it or isn't it'. I know the stock response here is 'I should email the seller and ask'. But if the number was posted in the item description, I wouldn'nt have to do that.
What's the deal? :-)
