I did not say they had to be cashed/deposited. That was just an example to show they are not US currency, even though they are printed here. The are much like stuff the Franklin mint produces.

You are actually the closest to having a correct answer. These are just not US currency produced by the US. They are more like a check from a group of people who have some gold/silver stacked up to back their checks. Unfortunately, the banks, grocers, auto dealers, and the US government do not recognize these. *vgb*
