have to pull the plug and spoil the joke.? I've a lot of French (Dumas) and still think it was funny. Further, the joke has nothing to do with whether the French also joined us--the underground French were our allies and did much to help in the war effort. It's only recently when they refused to join the U.S. in our awful decision to attack Iraq that they have suddenly fallen out of favor with a lot of U.S. patriots and become the subject of viscious anti French jokes--but this one is gentle.
