The left over materials from injection molding are reffered to as "sows", yes like the pig. Sows are particularilly evident on plastic model kits, but are also evident on items like old bullet molds and lost wax brass castings.

I was on an Archaeological Excavation at Ft. Huachuka Military Base in Arizona when we found several long, branched strips of lead. It wasn't until we found one, nearly intact with musket balls/bullets attached, that we figured out what it was.
