militant about this shipping issue. I buy alot on Ebay and it is just getting ridiculous. $11.00 to ship a matchbook...$8.00 to ship an ashtray...$6.00 to ship a postcard. You have to ask if it isn't quoted in the ad...these scumbags are out to rape you.
Usual explanation is that, "I have to cover my bubble wrap, my padded envelopes, my Ebay ad fees, my gas to go to the post office, and on and on."
Bubble wrap and that crap is a cost of doing business. Ebay fees are a cost of doing business. It should not be my responsibility to cover your overhead. That should be covered by the PROFIT you make selling your items, not recovered by gouging me on shipping and bogus handling fees.
Of course, if you are selling junk that goes for a dollar or two you probably should be doing something else anyway rather than gouging the h*ll out of your customers to make a small profit. What the heck's the point?
We sell tons of stuff on Ebay and never charge a handling/packing fee. What it costs me to ship it is what you pay. Plain and simple. Customers appreciate it and deserve it!!
Most of my good repeat customers get free shipping and insurance...They deserve that too.
Quite often when I list gaming items I give CCGTCC members FREE SHIPPING or seriously reduced shipping.
Just like a previous post about getting negative feedback for shipping a chip for $2.10, not a large amount but that's gouging and far as I am concerned he deserved what he got. You all know what it costs to ship a darn chip. Certainly not $2.10. It doesn't sound like much but if you buy as much as I do on Ebay it amounts to many hundreds of dollars a year if you allow yourself to be taken advantage of by these people.
Simply stated, you should not be making your profit by overcharging for shipping.
