Correct. You need some version of CD-Direct or one of the programs that lets you format a CD-R or RW and "use it as a system drive" that means you can copy, delete, move and evrything else, just as if it was a hard drive.

I've had problems with CD-Direct and other versions of similar software, In-CD, where it blocks recordings of music and steals resources or tries to load when it's already running.

But that's all you need. I'm getting to the point where I removed it from the startup menu and only start it, when I'm going to do file copying.

I made 3 shiny coasters of the last music CD before I figured it out.
