Interesting info... Allow me to add that I have one of those disks and I got it along with some antique poker chips. Now this does not mean that it was a chip, only that it was the same size.

Also, I looked up "Spaulding Composites" and got this link ( http://www.spauldingcom.com/contact.html ) which may be better than your link because Spaulding Compsites still seems to be the base corporation into which Spaulding Fibre evolved into.

The other company was an off-shoot that specialized in artificial mica manufacture and is a footnote at the Spaulding site. The fibre aspect seems to continue with Spaulding Composites. Perhaps there is a company historian there that you can email. If not, I will be happy to do so.
