You are all over the place labeling people and making rather stupid assumptions in homage to the god you know as union.
Todd volunteered for this assignment if I remember right. What ever the assigned job was gonna be, he was ready to do it, and do it far longer everyday than the people sitting on their butts at home or carrying a sign would be doing IF THEY SHOWED UP TO WORK!
"The Unions serve a very real purpose and should be respected."
They fund political campaigns, enrich the union leaders and reward mediocrity in the workplace.
...and regarding your tirade against Stu, he was describing what its like to be self-employed and/or a small business owner. I've owned several small businesses, sometimes simultaneously. I know what it's like to work a scheduled 110 hours a week, and at the end of such a week, write a paycheck for everyone but myself while starting or growing the business.
If you want to have someone else tell your employer what your work is worth, that's your choice. When someone else thinks that the money you are missing out on when you go on strike is a fair wage for the same job, don't get mad at the person doing the job in place of you, the striker, don't get mad at the company paying the person doing the job in place of you, the striker, get mad at yourself and unions for feeding greed that drives up the costs of many things in this country.
