You found me out! I wore a dress and a bonnet for an Easter parade in 4th grade! There was a contest for the best Easter bonnet. I took second place, lost to some guy named August. The girls in the class were all po'd!
The drags at LVMS will be 8000 horsepower monster machines that accelerate from 0-100 mph in .8 seconds. G-Forces twice those experienced by a fighter pilot launching an F-16 off of an aircraft carrier. The noise these machines make moves beyond the realm of sound and into the realm of a physically disturbing experience. The sound waves not only rattle your innards and rotate your hat as it sits on your head, they set off car alarms a quarter of a mile away! An NHRA National Event is one of those things that everyone should experience in person at least once.
The Chippers Cruise was something I'll never forget. It was so much fun in every way. The experience of the cruise itself, coupled with getting to know some of the people involved in this hobby in ways that don't often (or often enough) occur during a show or a convention (it's funny how breaking bread with people can help form bonds) made it very special. ....next time, I'll have a passport, I promise!
