As I realized how many times that I would be typing this color for TCR, I thought that I had better look it up to be sure. The spelling as fuchsia seemed to be a little too close to the infamous "F" word so, as not to chance inflaming anyone on this fine board, I had a little talk with myself. I said, "Self, best to look it up!" My 1982 printing of the "Webster New World Dictionary", gave as the first and only spelling, F-U-C-H-S-I-A. I still pondered over the spelling, thinking that maybe my dictionary was wrong. I went to Barnes & Noble and looked it up in four other dictionaries. Only one gave F-U-S-C-H-I-A as a second choice. I then felt comfortable to continue quilt free, to type fuchsia. I've always liked the feel of safety in numbers so I will unequivocally use the spelling as F-U-C-H-S-I-A. *VBG*
