Pam, my preference is to collect blank slot club cards and if I cant get one (or need to fill a hole in my collection), Ill pick up one with a name on it.
Blank cards most times wont be damaged by being stuck in a machine (slot machine or the machine they use to emboss your name on it).
I actually have 3 collections of slot club cards (1 of blank cards, 1 of cards with my name on them (or my wifes), and one that is the master collection of all cards based on the when the card was issued from the Wells/Lamb slot club book). Im also separating out my room keys into a separate collection.
Good luck in your collection, if you one of everything, you have over 4600 different cards to track down and it will cost you 1000s of dollars to acquire. And whats the really bad news; some of these cards are unique (only 1 card known).
Oh, lets not forget the Harrah's slot club nightmare. At last count, there were over 800 different variations listed (based on their 3 digit location identifier).
