One of the early chapters had a chip made and then the casino released it late at night, so the chosen few (Members!) could buy them all and try to re-sell the Commemorative/LE chips at inflated prices.
Not Nevada.
I'm not going to get into the personality battle, but ANY casino that releases limited edition chips and special issues, which were controlled by a person or a few people isn't worth collecting ANY chips from.
Ask Janice for the Nevada list, she is most informed in that respect along with hundreds of others of more pleasant bits of history.
My personal decision is no Hard Rock anything, ever. And the only chips from Four Queens are $1's because I like them. I still think 4Q is an outstanding donwtown casino and I'll go there and play there. I won't take any chips or strikes home again.
I'm about ready to ask that my name be removed from the slabfree list, because of the mob mentality. I won't buy from people who sell slabs, I won't buy slabbed chips, I won't buy chips from controlled issues and manipulated releases... but I'm getting tired of the storm troopers busting into message threads with personal attacks.
Maybe it sounds like a different quote, but attack the problem, not the person.
