Wow! I didn't notice the $10,000 starting bid ... just the accompanying scan of 1000 chip. Evidently there are 99 more just like it around.

Only if someone legitimately bids $10k will it become a $10,000 chip. The seller can ask any starting bid he/she wants. Might just as well have made it $1 million for openers!
