It still holds that it's too busy, the FAA is cutting back, and there aren't people flying. It just doesn't make logical sense.
I guess standing on the tarmac makes you a defacto expert of some sort and since I only fly as a passenger I'm not allowed to talk about illogical arguments.
As far as Bush and Kerry, I'm not going to touch that one. I don't think it has anything to do with the airline industry flying around empty planes and your claim that they demanded a $800 million cut in pay or shut down.
Maybe losing a few more airlines won't hurt, since it appears we have too many trying to make it with underpaid employees and too many empty seats.
It's better to save 75% of the industry than have 100% limping along.
If people aren't flying, how do they get around. I'll be danged if I'll take a bus anywhere every again. The trin is fine if you have a couple of days to spare, just as expensive as flying and who knows if it's really as safe. That leaves driving, which I'll do for a few hundred miles, no more.
Unless there's some transporter ala Startrek the answer is, flying is the only way to go.
If people are flying less, then they are traveling less. There's no other way around it.
