Actually capitalism is an econmic system with built in checks and balances which if left to work will work in the healthcare area.
Government programs and regulation removed the balances, there is no market force driving prices downward because the government has removed them while creating barriers to entry which aim to keep supply down.
There is no incentive to bring health care costs down, because the government has insured that the medical providers will get their price.
Let me make it clear where I am coming from. At the present time I have no medical insurance. In 1995 I had surgery while uninsured (I paid for every dime of that surgery even though it took me a long time to do so). I had the option of buying health insurance (COBRA) but decided that I had better uses for the $250 per month it would cost me. This was my decision, and if while I am uninsured I need health care, I will bear the cost of it. Now tell me again why I should pay for your health care?
(by the way without ridiculous government intervention in the Health Care insurance industry the cost of my health insurance would be considerably less).
