I started collecting coins in 1964 and chips in 1995. I will never know it all in either area so in a sense I will always be a "newbie". There is one maxim in coin collecting, however, which applies in chip collecting also. "Before you buy the coin (chip), buy the book." Obtain the books that will give you information and you will feel less and less like a newbie as time passes. Welcome and good luck.
