For years I bought and traded with our old friend Jim Gillette who has passed away. He had, and new of 1000,s of Nevada Chips. Many times we would be doing a deal and I would say the CR or James Book says the value is this and Jim would say" I don,t even look at their books, I look at what,s available or how often you can even find it at any price. Did you ever see this chip for sale before? I want this much!!"
I think this is what should guide your buying experience.
I also have been to a multitude of shows, looked at a million chips and know when something becomes for sale that you very seldom get a chance to buy.
At that point NO Guide determines the current price as it is strictly a decision between the buyer and seller.
If you REALLY want the item ,only you can determine how far you want to spend.
Sometimes you have to overspend to get something,
and NO guide makes a difference.
All the SMART players in this hobby know what the good stuff is. Right Mike Christensen?? Right James??
My 2 cents worth on guides
