Price guides for all collectibles show 'values' above that normally achieved. That has always been the case and I suspect it always will be. Most chips will sell for around 80% lower book. The scarcer the chip the nearer to upper book. Many collectibles (such as stamps & coins) only reach 50% of catalog for readily available items. Chips are doing well. For every discovery of a quantity of old chips that reduces one value, there are probably 10 new issues being swallowed up and another 5 chips become obsolete or dealers stocks depleted. Therefore, both the value of collections and the value of the whole chip 'market' are increasing as we speak.
