St. Maarten got hit a couple of years in a row with devastating hurricanes. Some casinos were destroyed and never reopened. The casinos in Phillipsburg are open during the day. Many of the resort casinos are only open in the evenings. Or it is slots only during the day. It is a real challenge to visit all the open casinos and get chips in St. Maarten.
