As I was bored with the stock market two days ago I ran across a local internet drug task force auction for some jewelry. After reading thru several of the descriptions, I noticed one was for a 3 ct. pear shaped diamond ring with an appraisal of $15K. I looked up the stone in a 1986 wholesale price guide and just the stone was worth $6-7K back then. The auction was at $1700 with one day to go. Needless to say Cindy approved the potential purchase.

Of course the bad news is that on the final day the bids kept going up and up. I was willing to go at least $3000 but final bid was for $6650. Another opportunity slipped thru my fingers.
