I recall a thread about this subject some time a go and the rationale, if you can call it that, ir that it reduces the quantity of pristine condition chips to the ones YOU have, and killing the value on others. It's a pretty selfish and greedy act, one that is in total contradiction to the hobby itself. I don't know of anyone who would endorse that, casino, collectors, or even other dealers.
