Hi Dave,
The Sahara is average, not a 3 star hotel. I've stayed there several times, no complaints.
If you gamble, book a Las Vegas room through the hotel's website, sign up for a players club card before you do any gambling, then use the card every time you play. When checking out of the hotel, you can ask the clerk to have a casino host to review your play (tracked on the player's club card) and possibly have your room rate reduced or comped. Sign up for and use a player's club card even if you only play small bet slots. All tracked play means something to the casino's marketing department.
If you don't gamble, go to Travelaxe.com. Their software will search for the lowest room rate on virtually every web based discount travel site and point you to the best buy available.
Hope this helps,
Bob (will be staying at my 18th different Vegas property over Halloween weekend)
