My wife and I are going to Vegas in November, a week after the chip convention. I see some great deals at Sahara but I have not seen it in person...

Does anyone know how I can get a good deal on a room other than what's advertised to the public? Also, Is the Sahara good place to stay for a low budget? Where is a good place on the strip for cheap? I am looking for no less than a 3 star room. How do I get deals on the shows?
