I’m working on the descriptions, scans, etc. for the Help Feed Hungry Kids & Help Get The Club A Clubhouse Auction*. As you can imagine with over 500 chips this is a long and laborious process. I’m having a blast though; it’s a kick to have 500 chips piled on my desk.
When I started this project back in June, someone posted here (I think it was Jim Reilly), and made the suggestion that instead of one huge auction, the donated chips could be grouped into categories and several smaller auctions offered. This might maximize the money realized from the project, and therefore maximize the donations to the NH Food Bank and the Club’s Building Fund. And that is the most important thing. Several smaller auctions may also create more interest, and would definitely allow more collectors to bid.
I believe this idea has merit, and I’m leaning toward proceeding in this way. The categories I'm using are as follows:
Las Vegas
Other Nevada
Roulette
Atlantic City
Illegal & Fraternal
Foreign
Cruise Ships
California
Other USA
Indian
Advertising Chips, Poker Chips, NCV Tokens, Tokens, & Misc. Cool Stuff
So… I’d like your opinion. One HUGE auction or several smaller auctions? I’d also like your opinion on the categories. Too many, too few, should I combine some of them?
Please post here or email me.
Thanks!
