A couple years ago I was in Tunica for the World Poker Open and met a player that was big into online poker. He openly bragged about how he had three different lines into his home (giving him three different IP addresses) and how he plays on the same table with three different computers and making TONS of money doing it.
I'm not saying you ran into this guy, but I do know it is being done. Also you can have players/friends discussing on the phone what they have or via instant messaging.
I love online poker and have done pretty well at it but I am still worried about how much cheating is taking place. The only time I really feel comfortable is when I play in the large multitable tournaments with several hundred people. The likely hood of two "friends" getting on same table sharing information is very remote.
I don't play in as many big tournaments like I used to. Just don't have the time. Sometimes I do a "print screen" of my bust-out hands and here are a couple recent finishes... 189 players and I got knocked out 10th. Other one had 681 players and I was knocked out 32nd...
