The caption on the toddler's t-shirt could not be anymore incorrect. The state of affairs in the U.S. today is almost at an all time low. I do not consider myself to be Republican or Democratic. I vote for those that I feel will do the best job, regardles of party affiliation. But I feel things are really screwed up. I do not attribute all these conditions to the current administration. But the current administration has also achieved little or no improvements.
o High unemployment. And we don't even know how to count all those who have given up tring to find a job. Tons of professionally trained individuals taking whatever low paying job they can just to put food on the table. The government is even encouraging large U.S. companies to export jobs overseas with tax breaks. I bet everyone can name a relative or friend who is out of work or working in a lower capacity than they were 4 years ago. How safe is your job?
o Economy. The stock market is in the toilet and interest rates are rising. Do you feel more financially secure now than you did 4 years ago? Are you savings and investments worth more or less than they were 4 years ago? Enough said.
o Security. Does anyone feel more secure now than they have in the last couple of years? We are all just waiting for the next attack. We spent zillions of dollars on security and what do we have to show for it? TSA employees who steal valuables out of traveler's luggage. And reports of emminent attacks based on what turns out to be 3 year old data.
o Iraq. This could be the worst thing to ever happen to the U.S. An unjustified war to serve some political or economic end. No weapons of mass destruction. Over 1,000 U.S. soldiers killed. U.S. hired civilian contractors are being beheaded. This is 2004, not 1004, and we are talking about beheading. Just think about that. Prisoner or war sexual abuse. U.S. soldiers accused of looting and stealing. U.S. contractors, like Halliburton (Chaney's previous employer), overcharging the government for their services. And worst of all, all of the U.S. allies, except for the U.K., abandon us. And there is no end in sight. Just more killing, more abuse and zillions of dollars to be spent.
These are just the highlights of an incompentent administration. I am more concerned now about my personal survival and well being than any other time in life. Things could not get much worse than they are now. This is not an administration that I want to be re-elected.
