HONG KONG: 115 HELD IN INSECT FIGHTS The authorities were questioning 115 men after the police raided a building in the run-down Mongkok district and broke up a gambling operation that used huge fighting crickets. While cricket fighting is not illegal, gambling on the results is. The gamblers were arrested in the midst of what were billed as championship matches among crickets from Hong Kong, nearby Macau and Guangzhou in China. The police seized cash, small baskets used to house the insects and bamboo sticks used to agitate them, as well as nearly 200 crickets. (Agence France-Presse)
