Jim blanchard bought the rights to the NV and DiCd molds from the Borland estate. As far as I know Blanchard and the Burt Co before him, always had the actual molds. Borland NEVER made the actual chips. When BJ owned the molds, they would have resided at the Burt Co, Blanchard bought the Burt Co assets from Chipco who had bought out the Burt Co. Bud Jones NEVER actually made chips from the Molds.
Time line:
Bud Jones designed both molds, NV-1965, DiCd-1971.
Burt had the molds made for BJ, then made chips to his orders. Blanchard told me what molds cost to make in those days but I have forgotten, Maybe in the $40,000 area.
Bud stopped selling chips on the two molds in 1980 except for re-orders and special requests.
Bud Jones last order for inlayed NV mold chips was for Circus Circus in 1978. Bud started making his own chips, 8 suit in 1980. BTW, He started making his own Coin Inlays, weight 12 grams in 1973.
John Kendall (Chipco) bought out the Burt co in 1985. He converted HHR and made some sample chips for WICO. I have one.
John decided to go with his protec chips and sold the Burt assets to Blanchard.
Borland bought the rights to the 2 molds roughly 1990 from BJ.
Jerry Wall was involved after Borland died as he came into control of the Borland assets.
Blanchard bought the rights from Borland estate or Wall a couple years ago, just before he produced chips for NV Jacks.
I'm sure Jim Blanchard will see this and let me know any mistakes.
Make no mistake, NO ONE actually produced chips on the molds except Burt and Blanchard. Blanchard is selling the DiCd chips on his sight.
