I got this chip from a friend about the same time as I got a bunch of chips from the Borland estate and had started researching them. I threw it in with the others.
All of a sudden I realized it was the only one from an open casino. In the BJ records search there was no record of the chip being made. If it wasn't in the BJ records then Borland had to have made it, since only two people, (Bud Jones & Borland) had owned the mold up to that time.
The dilemma was that IMO, Borland had never
counterfeited an open casino's chips.
The BJ salesman for the Hotel NV, who had been with the BJ Co before they moved from KC, MO, told me he never sold the chip. He put me in touch with people at the Hotel NV. Sure enough they had purchased it from Borland. It is the only "Real" chip I know of that was sold to a casino by Borland.
Here's is the fun part, I got it in TCR right after I got it about 1998, as a Borland Counterfeit. I tried several times to get it fixed and had given up on it. TCR 10 has the "See note 003" removed. Thanks Allan.
Anyone else have the chip?
