I just stumbled on 'Observation #2 - The Death of Common Courtesy' - an article recently posted on this board by Jim Perlowski and now replicated on Andy Hughes web-site. I consider this both contradictory and offensive.
When the article was first posted on the board - it afforded ample opportunity for all parties to make their respective comments and judgements in the forum. In any event, that thread will soon drop off the board and be forgotten. Even when the archives are perused in the future, the thread will be complete - not just Jim's observations. One of Jim's closing points on the subject was "Now we can both drop this topic". Obviously you have chosen not to.
The display of this article on a website where one assumes it will remain indefinitely amounts to no more than a 'slur'. You state yourself in the article that you "could list examples far more serious than the two minor ones here". In that case why did you not do so?
I would like to recap on some events:
Jim states that "Everyone on this board (The Chip Board) knows I gave Andy Hughes exclusive use of the pictures I take to place on his web site".
It was clear from both the responses to the initial post and private email correspondence that myself and Mike have both received that JIM and ANDY were the only two people to know this.
Jim then goes on to say "Mike meant well. He was not trying to create a problem ... Mike please don't take the photos down"
Shortly afterwards Jim demands he takes them down.
A lot of private correspondence has also passed on this topic. It is my distinct impression that rather than Andy benefitting from extra website traffic he stands to lose out as far more people are unhappy with Jim's post than they were with Mike's use of the pictures. Please note I am not condoning Mike's actions either way - just trying to provide a fair representation of what I and others see.
Two final points. In an email to me Jim stated he was tired and irritable after a long journey and on another occasion would not have approached the matter in this way. The posting on Andy's site seems hypocritical to me (but then again I accept Andy may have posted it without Jim asking him to and may not have been aware of the circumstances under which Jim made the post.
The other point was that Jim said it was a goal to get a picture of every club member. Mike had already collected some 250 pictures from sources other than Jim - this seems to be more than Jim had achieved himself.
Surely there is a better way to achieve this. Would it not be more sensible for Greg to allocate some space on the board server??
Stick as many forks in me as you like - I may or may not be done.
