make sure you set up the WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy), or equivalent, that comes with your router.

A firewall should keep honest people honest and out of your computer. But if you don't set up the WEP, anyone in range with a wireless lap top or a wireless NIC in their desktop will be able to surf the Internet over your connection by hooking up to your wireless router.
