RE: Your Email:
"I see no justification for using the words Norweigian or Jew in your joke as it has no bearing whatsoever to your story from what I can see and may cause a stir on the board."
Fine,it was a stupid joke. "Norweigian has no bearing on the joke." What the hell are you talking about, that is what makes it fun. The joke wouldn't even be remotely funny if Norweigians weren't involved in it. Is the word "Norweigian" now taboo? I am of that heritage and damn proud of it. There are probably more Norweigian jokes than any other ethnic jokes. I have no regrets about using, "Norweigian." We can laugh at ourselves and enjoy humor like this. It may be juvenile but it flies in a large part of this great country and sure as hell isn't considered as a racial slur.
As for, "Jewing him down", or whatever I said, I will apologize, reluctantly. The first time I heard that term was from a millionaire Junk Dealer(Don't let me offend here either, he dealt in scrap iron, batteries, radiators, silver coins, anything salvageable.)Made a large fortune doing it. Last name Borecky, his mother was Jewish. One of the finest people I ever met. Upper midwest, he knew the "Art of the Deal" before Donald Trump was ever thought of. He said, "You gotta Jew 'em down." Bought low, sold high and made a fortune. Endowed much of it to the city he lived in, his legacy will last forever.
I am sorry, that is a very common phrase in the upper midwest and it is said with no disrespect to anyone.
There was nothing derogatory racially or ethicnally in that joke in my opinion. If you think there is well so be it.
I have laughed until I hurt hearing jokes about my Nationality...We can laugh at ourselves and have a ton of fun doing it.
Remember, the next time you use a paper clip...A Norweigian invented it. LOL!!!
