I went to the big local flea market today and picked up this great Baccarat Shoe. The seller said it was from the Golden Nugget back in the 50's. He said he worked there back in those days. There are no markings on it to indicate where it might have been used but it does appear to be a real casino Baccarat Shoe. It is made of a nice heavy wood with dovetailing and heavy metal fittings. The block that sets behind the cards has small ball bearing to ensure it will slide down smoothly to feed the cards. The second photo shows the manufacturer's mark on the inside. Does anyone know if these were used at the Nevada casinos in the past? I never really paid any attention to the Baccarat games but I seem to recall they showed up in the Tahoe region in the 70's.
Oh, I also picked up a Z1 rated chip for $3 - a Harrah's $25 chip (TCR#5124). Unfortunately, it was encased in lucite....
