Several hotels in Vegas offered the service in conjunction with the Virgin Atlantic flights prior to Sept 11th, but as you suggested it was cancelled for security reasons - considering the lack of services at McCarren Terminal 2 it was a great idea as you could get to the airport much later - 2-3 hours at McCarren when you can see the casinos through the windows is a real pain!
