NASA attached a camera to the center of a helicopter rotor so they could watch it as it rotated under flight conditions. They were astounded by what they saw. The blade flexed, twisted, and bowed with contortions like a snake at full speed. Because of that observation rotor life on helicopters was reduced. Plus, it made for many UNeasy helocopter pilots!
