well it might be a little different in the US than here in Australia, but generally package deals from big companies, be they directly from the pc company or big retailers, are much more expensive. the best bet would be to go to some specialist computer store, and see if they can match the best prices you have found from other smaller stores. RAM and a hard disk etc shouldnt be expensive, its the windows XP that really gets ya!
