in most homes, the walls and the foundation should actually meet...seems as though Ms. Bitner has a settlement problem with her foundation / slab that's left quite a gap. My sympathies to Jill...there's nothing worse than trying so hard (as she did) to find a home and then have it turn into a nightmare of problems & battles. Steve B
