I did double check my TCR #9 (sorry I don't have TCR #10) and do see the book does document Hard Rock roulette tables sets as follows:
I've never really looked at the TCR roulette listings in any great detail nor have I attempted to reconciled it to my collection/knowledge. I'm surprised no one really had noticed the extra two sets that are listed and mentioned it before.
Based on how the information is presented, I wonder if the author's meant to list that last 1996 as 1999??? (On page 122 of TCR#9 is shows 1996 as the release date but I suspect they meant 1999).
At any rate, let's continue...
As I understand the story (or folk lore), I have been told by a number of different sources that the #1 table and #2 table sets were on the tables for a short period of time. I don't know the time frame. Then they were pulled and replaced. Because they were not on the tables very long not too many were harvested and as a result those are very scarce today.
If that story is correct, then it stands to reason that 2 new tables sets would have had to been released at that time. If we examine TCR#9, we see on page 121 two sets were released in 1996.
Now let's throw these two dates out:
My first question is this. When were the 3 additional tables introduced at the Hard Rock? Was it 1999 after the expansion was completed?
One could come to a couple of different guesses/conclusions on what MIGHT have happened at that time:
I have been a very active collector all Hard Rock chips for quite awhile and have never heard anyone speak of these two additional sets before. If they were on the tables, then someone would have collected a few and we would have seen some on the market. When I’ve spoken with other collectors, it seemed that we always discussed the roulettes in this fashion: 2 table sets that were numbered (#1 and #2). Then five table sets of the next series. Then five table sets of the 2000 series. And now five (yucky plain) table sets of the 2004 series.
If I had to guess, I believe those two sets do not exist. But I have been known to be wrong in the past! ;-) It does bring up an interesting question and one that I hope others help in your quest to find out more.
